Mind/Body Connection Classes

Pilates Mat
Pronounced (pronounced puh-LAH-teez) is a combination of low impact movements based on the concepts developed by Joseph Pilates to train and condition the body from the inside out. It is an exercise style that effectively trains and works the "core" muscles of the body and to create strong and lean muscles without the bulk. Our classes focus is on basic Pilates principles of awareness, breath, centering, concentration, control, flowing movement, and precision. Challenging yet safe for all ages and fitness levels.

Pilates Allegro Reformer
A Reformer is a resistance-based piece of equipment with a moving carriage that slides along a wooden or metal frame. Springs and ropes provide assistance and resistance, and exercises are performed lying down, sitting, kneeling or standing. Many Pilates enthusiasts prefer working on Reformers, which offer more resistance and support than a mat.

Benefits: Increased muscular definition and improved coordination, flexibility, body awareness, posture, core strength.

Yoga

Yogalates
Yogalates combines movements from both Yoga and Pilates (pronounced puh-LAH-teez) designed to engage both mind and body using the breath.

Yoga and Pilates increase balance, flexibility and muscle strength. It's an option for those who want a workout that is challenging, but still low-impact.  The class offers relaxation and improved concentration in addition to the physical benefits of improved flexibility, stamina and strength.

The Pilates portion of the class focuses on the core muscles of the back and abdomen. The yoga portion increases strength and flexibility throughout the body. This class is designed to specifically sculpt and tone the buttocks, legs, arms and abdominals while enhancing spinal alignment and posture.

Testimonials

“Some instructors have all the right words, but no feeling. But those two (Jerry and Therese) have the complete package—knowledge, motivation and passion.”...Bertha

"I hated Zumba the first time I took the class. The original instructor did not make the class work for me. But as a rule in my life, I always try everything twice. This is when I found Therese. Therese helped start my addiction to Zumba. Her classes are full but she took the time to modify certain movesfor me until I lost enough weight to perform the original moves. I am happy to report that one year later, I am down to 160.7 Ibs, a total loss of 43 lbs"...Amber

My back has been bothering me for years. After taking Pilates my pain is almost gone. ...Bill.
